What Is the Heavenly Pardon Star (天赦星) in BaZi?
Check the four seasonal Heavenly Pardon day pillars, define the season boundary before lookup, and understand why the auspicious name does not cancel real consequences.
Overview
Heavenly Pardon uses one complete day pillar for each season: Wu-Yin in spring, Jia-Wu in summer, Wu-Shen in autumn, and Jia-Zi in winter. It is a traditional favorable calendrical marker, not a promise of immunity, forgiveness, recovery, or a favorable legal outcome.

The four seasonal Heavenly Pardon days
San Ming Tong Hui gives 戊寅 Wu-Yin for spring, 甲午 Jia-Wu for summer, 戊申 Wu-Shen for autumn, and 甲子 Jia-Zi for winter. The category matches only when the season and complete day pillar agree.
A Jia stem or Zi branch elsewhere in the chart is not enough, and a listed day pillar in the wrong season does not satisfy this table. This precise scope prevents the auspicious name from spreading to unrelated symbols.
- Identify the season, then compare the complete day pillar.
- Do not count partial matches or other pillar positions.
The season method changes boundary cases
Solar terms, lunar months, and civil seasons do not switch on the same dates. A result near a seasonal boundary is reproducible only when the chosen convention, local time, location, and time-zone conversion are visible.
OpenFate does not currently select a hidden season convention for Heavenly Pardon. A future implementation should preserve alternative outcomes whenever the source method or birth-time evidence cannot resolve the boundary.

A favorable marker is not a result guarantee
Traditional readers may treat Heavenly Pardon as a supportive secondary marker, but it does not replace month command, structure, useful elements, stem-branch relations, and timing. A chart can contain mixed or contradictory signals.
The current OpenFate Bazi engine does not calculate Heavenly Pardon. Publishing the source rule does not add the marker to existing reports or imply that every user born on one of these days receives a favorable score.

“Pardon” does not erase real obligations
Heavenly Pardon cannot cancel legal liability, debt, illness, injury, misconduct, or consequences. It also cannot promise acquittal, forgiveness, treatment success, financial recovery, or protection from harm.
