Day-Master Relationships in Bazi Compatibility
Compare the two Day Masters by element and polarity while preserving each chart’s strength, structure, and useful functions; avoid good-or-bad shortcuts.
Overview
Day-Master relationships in Bazi compatibility (合婚中的日主關係, Hé Hūn Zhōng De Rì Zhǔ Guān Xì) compare the Heavenly Stem of each person’s Day Pillar. The relation may be same element, generation, control, or a recognized stem combination, with polarity adding a Ten-God direction from each chart’s perspective. This is one narrow layer: the same pair can function differently because each Day Master has its own Month Command, roots, strength, structure, and useful or adverse functions. Generation is not automatic care, control is not automatic harm, and combination is not proof of attraction or permanence.

Derive the relation in both directions
Identify each Day Stem’s phase and polarity, then calculate same-phase, generating, controlling, or combination relations. Translate the contact into Ten-God roles separately for person A and person B.
Do not describe a directional relation as symmetrical. What is Resource from one viewpoint may be Output from the other, and control also produces different Wealth or Officer roles.

Return each Day Master to its own natal structure
Assess Month Command, roots, support, drainage, restraint, structure, and useful functions in each chart. A contact that supports one chart can overload or obstruct another.
Do not assume that a weak Day Master needs any generation or that a strong one benefits from any control. The natal diagnosis must precede the comparison.

The Day Master is only the stem half of each Day Pillar. Compare Day Branches, hidden stems, spouse palaces, other stem-branch contacts, and dated layers independently.
If the Day Stems appear supportive but other layers conflict, publish the disagreement. Do not choose only the contact that matches the desired relationship story.

Do not translate five-element relations into behavior
Generation does not prove caregiving, control does not prove abuse or dominance, and combination does not prove attraction, sex, marriage, or fidelity. These are real-world claims requiring direct evidence.
Use the layer to formulate neutral questions about exchange and adjustment. Do not label either person beneficial, draining, controlling, or destined for the other.
