What Is Bazi Compatibility?
Learn how two verified natal charts are compared by a disclosed method, why contacts are not scores, and what compatibility cannot predict or decide.
Overview
Bazi compatibility (八字合婚, Bā Zì Hé Hūn) is a structured comparison of two independently calculated natal charts. It is not a single formula, a marriage-approval score, or a guarantee of relationship outcomes. A reproducible analysis preserves each chart’s Day Master, Month Command, structure, useful functions, Day-Branch spouse palace, and timing baseline before comparing named stem, branch, Ten-God, and elemental contacts. The method must state whether it evaluates natal interaction, dated context, or a specific question. Symbolic agreement and tension do not measure love, morality, consent, safety, or permanence, and the result must not override either person’s choice.

Begin with two verified charts, not two zodiac animals
Verify birth dates, times, locations, calendar conversion, time zones, and any uncertainty for both people. Complete each natal interpretation before introducing cross-chart contacts.
A year-branch animal, element count, or Day Pillar alone is not a full compatibility method. If one chart is missing, label the reading as one-person reflection rather than compatibility.

Publish the comparison method and reading order
State whether the method compares Day Masters, Day Pillars, spouse palaces, Ten-God roles, useful functions, stem and branch relations, or dated cycles. Identify each participating symbol and direction.
Keep the two natal baselines, cross-chart contacts, and timing layers separate. Several names for one contact are one evidence family, not repeated confirmation.

Describe interaction themes without turning them into scores
Generating, controlling, combining, clashing, and shared-element contacts can frame questions about support, difference, adjustment, or change. Their meaning depends on each chart’s structure and context.
No universal weighting converts these contacts into a reliable percentage. Show support, strain, modifiers, contradictions, and unknowns instead of one final grade.

Keep consent, safety, and life decisions outside the score
Compatibility cannot prove a soulmate, love, fidelity, attraction, abuse, marriage, divorce, fertility, financial success, or duration. It cannot diagnose a person who did not participate.
Use direct communication, consent, behavior, shared plans, records, and qualified support for decisions. Both people retain the right to reject the reading or relationship.
