Overview

Heavenly-Stem combinations in Bazi compatibility (合婚中的天干相合, Hé Hūn Zhōng De Tiān Gān Xiāng Hé) identify one of the five recognized pairs across two charts: Jia–Ji, Yi–Geng, Bing–Xin, Ding–Ren, or Wu–Gui. The presence of a pair establishes a combination relation under the selected table; it does not by itself establish transformation into Earth, Metal, Water, Wood, or Fire. Record each stem’s chart, pillar, polarity, Ten-God direction, natal roots, Month Command, competing combinations, and structural function. Cross-chart contact does not merge the two natal charts or prove attraction, agreement, marriage, fidelity, or permanence.

Identify the exact pair and evidence owner

List both participating stems, their charts, pillars, and whether either already combines or conflicts inside its own natal chart. Do not report a generic “stems combine” label without the pair.

Calculate the Ten-God direction from each Day Master separately. A cross-chart pair is a comparison contact and does not relocate either stem into the other chart.

  • Name both stems and pillar positions.
  • Preserve chart ownership and both directions.

Separate combination from transformation

The recognized pair supports a combination-relation statement. A transformation claim needs a declared school rule and evidence concerning season, roots, support, obstruction, and competing relations.

Because the stems belong to different natal charts, do not import an intrachart transformation rule without explaining how the method treats cross-chart contact. When the method is silent, stop at relation.

  • Never infer transformation from the pair alone.
  • State when cross-chart transformation is unsupported.

Return the pair to two complete natal structures

Review Month Command, roots, revealment, strength, structure, useful functions, and existing natal contacts for both stems. A stem can already be constrained, supported, or contested in its own chart.

Compare spouse palaces, Day Pillars, other branch relations, and timing independently. Preserve counterevidence instead of allowing one stem pair to dominate the report.

  • Complete two natal context checks.
  • Show competing and contradictory evidence.

Do not equate a stem combination with romantic union

A combination does not prove attraction, emotional agreement, sexual compatibility, commitment, marriage, fidelity, reconciliation, or duration. It cannot reveal either person’s intentions.

Use it as one technical contact alongside direct communication, consent, conduct, and shared plans. Do not approve or reject a relationship because a five-combination pair is present or absent.

  • Avoid “destined match” language.
  • Keep real choices outside the combination rule.
