Three Combinations and Three Meetings in Compatibility
Audit complete and partial San He or San Hui sets across two charts, disclose the cross-chart method, and avoid treating a formation as merged qi or relationship destiny.
Overview
Three Combinations and Three Meetings in Bazi compatibility (合婚中的三合三會, Hé Hūn Zhōng De Sān Hé Sān Huì) ask whether branches distributed across two charts resemble a recognized San He or San Hui set. First distinguish a complete three-member set from a half combination, arching relation, directional meeting, or unrelated pair. Then record which chart owns each branch, its pillar, hidden stems, Month Command, natal relations, seasonal support, and competing contacts. Because the branches do not form one natal chart, any cross-chart formation or transformation claim needs an explicit method and should not overwrite the two natal baselines. It cannot prove unity, attraction, marriage, fertility, success, or permanence.
At a glance
- First distinction
- Complete San He, half combination, arch, or San Hui
- Ownership
- Every branch remains in its original chart and pillar
- Required method
- Define how cross-chart sets are recognized and weighted
- Transformation
- Needs separate seasonal and structural evidence
- Counterevidence
- Natal relations, competing contacts, void, timing, uncertainty
- Cannot prove
- Unity, attraction, marriage, fertility, success, permanence
Classify the formation before interpreting it
List every participating branch and identify a complete San He set, half combination, arching relation, or complete San Hui set under the selected table. Do not call two members a completed three-branch formation.
Record which person and pillar owns each member. A set assembled across charts is not the same evidence as a set contained inside one natal chart.
- Name the precise formation class.
- Preserve branch ownership and missing members.
Disclose the cross-chart recognition rule
State whether the method recognizes cross-chart completion, how it treats a member already transformed or disrupted in its natal chart, and whether Day-Branch participation receives any special weight.
If the method has no rule for combining branches across people, report the observed members without declaring a completed formation. Do not invent a hidden merged chart.
- Make cross-chart assumptions explicit.
- Stop short when the method is undefined.
Test season, support, competition, and both natal baselines
Review Month Command, central or directional qi, hidden stems, roots, support, obstruction, clashes, punishments, harms, breaks, void, and dated contacts. Formation and transformation are separate conclusions.
Return each member to its own chart’s structure and useful functions. Publish contradiction from Day Masters, spouse palaces, spouse stars, or timing rather than forcing one unified story.
- Require separate transformation evidence.
- Retain competing contacts and counterevidence.
Do not turn a formation into relationship destiny
A complete-looking set cannot prove emotional unity, attraction, sexual fit, marriage, pregnancy, family approval, business success, or permanence. A missing set does not prove incompatibility.
Use it as one named structural contact and rely on consent, communication, behavior, plans, and safety evidence for decisions. Neither chart loses its independent meaning.
- Avoid “one energy” and “destined union” claims.
- Keep both people and charts autonomous.
