Day-Pillar Relationships in Bazi Compatibility
Compare Day Stems and Day Branches as separate layers, retain hidden stems and natal context, and avoid treating one pillar as a complete relationship verdict.
Overview
Day-Pillar relationships in Bazi compatibility (合婚中的日柱關係, Hé Hūn Zhōng De Rì Zhù Guān Xì) compare each person’s Day Stem and Day Branch while preserving their different roles. The Day Stem is the Day Master; the Day Branch is its seat and the conventional spouse-palace position. Compare stem-to-stem phase, polarity, Ten-God direction, and combination separately from branch-to-branch combinations, clashes, punishments, harms, breaks, shared qi, and hidden stems. Then return both pillars to their Month Commands, roots, structures, neighboring pillars, and timing. One favorable or difficult Day-Pillar contact cannot prove compatibility or relationship outcomes.

Separate the stem half from the branch half
Record both Day Pillars exactly. Compare the two Day Stems by phase and polarity, then calculate directional Ten-God roles and any recognized stem combination.
Compare the two Day Branches through a disclosed branch-relation table and list their hidden stems. Do not collapse stem and branch results into one matching label.

Restore season, roots, structure, and neighboring pillars
Each Day Pillar belongs to a complete natal chart. Month Command, root strength, revealment, other pillar contacts, structure, and useful functions can alter how its symbols operate.
The same pair of Day Pillars does not produce one universal relationship profile. Do not use a lookup-table sentence without the two natal contexts.

Treat each contact as evidence, not an outcome
Combination, generation, shared qi, clash, punishment, harm, or break identifies a structural contact. Explain its participants, direction, conditions, modifiers, and counterevidence.
A clash can highlight change without proving conflict; a combination can highlight linkage without proving attraction or agreement. Timing may activate a review but not create behavior.

Use it as one limited comparison layer alongside direct communication, consent, conduct, shared plans, and safety evidence. Never use it as a pass-fail gate.
