Five-Element Interaction between Two Charts
Compare seasonal strength, roots, structure, function, direction, and timing without merging element counts, transferring energy, or treating absence as a deficit.
Overview
Five-Element interaction between two charts (兩人五行互動, Liǎng Rén Wǔ Xíng Hù Dòng) compares two independently established functional systems. Raw counts of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water are not enough: season, roots, revealed stems, hidden stems, structure, useful and adverse functions, combinations, control, and timing can change how an element operates. A partner does not donate an element, repair a missing element, or create a shared natal balance. Cross-chart generating, overcoming, draining, supporting, and same-element relations must retain their source, target, pillar, natal condition, and time window. These technical relations can organize questions, but cannot prove chemistry, health, dependence, conflict, benefit, or relationship outcomes.

Build a functional five-element profile for each chart
For each natal chart, derive the Month Command, seasonal state, roots, revealed and hidden stems, strength evidence, structure, circulation, useful functions, constraints, and unresolved disputes.
Do not rank elements by count alone. An absent element is not automatically needed, a frequent element is not automatically excessive, and the same element may serve different functions in the two charts.

Trace generating and overcoming directions precisely
Name the source and target element, exact stem or branch, pillar, hidden-stem status, natal function, and whether the contact is direct, mediated, combined, or seasonally supported.
Generating can drain the source, overcoming may restrain or organize, same-element contact may support or compete, and a nominal relation may be too weak to matter. Preserve both directions and counterconditions.

Keep natal interaction and timing in separate layers
A natal cross-chart relation describes a comparison rule, not a permanent event. Luck pillars and annual influences enter each chart separately before any overlap is compared for a stated calendar window.
Do not use a partner’s chart to fill a missing timing signal or declare a shared transformation. Show when the contact is supported, weakened, contradicted, absent, or uncertain.

Do not turn five elements into bodies, morals, or outcomes
Element interaction does not transfer energy, cure a deficiency, diagnose health, prove attraction, assign dominance, or show that one person completes or harms the other.
Use direct evidence for health, consent, behavior, communication, resources, and safety. Treat the five-element comparison as a technical map of symbolic functions only.
