Purva Phalguni Nakshatra: Leo Padas and Venus
Separate Purva Phalguni from Uttara Phalguni, locate its four Leo padas, and understand why a shared Venus lord is not a compatibility conclusion.
Overview
Purva Phalguni is the eleventh nakshatra, spanning 13°20′–26°40′ sidereal Leo, or 133°20′–146°40′ total longitude. Its Vimshottari lord is Venus. “Purva” is essential: Uttara Phalguni is the following, separately bounded nakshatra.

Why the full name matters
A report shortened to “Phalguni” cannot establish the sector. Purva Phalguni remains wholly in Leo; Uttara Phalguni starts later in Leo and continues into Virgo. Their Vimshottari lords also differ, so treating the prefix as cosmetic can change a timing setup.
Venus labels Purva Phalguni’s period association, not Leo’s sign ownership. The Sun still rules Leo. A reader needs the planet or point, the complete star name and its numerical degree before interpreting either relationship.
Matching a degree to the correct Phalguni
A synthetic Moon at 145° total longitude is 25° Leo. It lies in Purva Phalguni pada 4, whose start is 143°20′. The sector ends at 146°40′, leaving 1°40′, or 100 arcminutes.
For Moon-based Vimshottari, 20 × 100/800 = 2.5 dasha years of Venus remain. If a tool instead labels this coordinate Uttara Phalguni, the interval lookup—not a personality comparison—is the first place to investigate.
Does a Venus lord imply a particular relationship style?
Bharani and Purva Ashadha also belong to Venus in the repeated nine-lord sequence. Sharing that association does not make three nakshatras identical or establish that two people are compatible. Their coordinates and complete charts differ.
This guide is a natal-coordinate reference, not a marriage forecast or an auspicious-date selector. Keep actual relationship decisions grounded in communication and consent rather than a shortened star label.
