Rohini Nakshatra: Taurus Degrees and Moon Lord

Overview

Rohini is the fourth nakshatra, from 10° to 23°20′ sidereal Taurus, equivalent to 40°–53°20′ total longitude. It is associated with the Moon in Vimshottari. Taurus itself remains ruled by Venus in the seven-planet sign-rulership convention.

Why does Rohini involve both the Moon and Venus?

The Moon is Rohini’s Vimshottari lord, while Venus is the ruler of the containing sign, Taurus. If the natal Moon itself occupies Rohini, it is also the occupant. A single graha can therefore appear in different columns for different reasons.

Rohini does not contain the Moon’s exact exaltation point at 3° Taurus in the cited dignity table. That point lies earlier in Taurus, within Krittika. “Moon-ruled star” and “exaltation degree” should not be merged into one label.

An exact beginning of pada 3

Use a hypothetical Moon at 16°40′ Taurus, or 46°40′ total longitude. Rohini begins at 40°, so the offset is 6°40′. That is the start of pada 3 and exactly half of the sector.

The remaining half yields 10 × 1/2 = 5 dasha years of the Moon under the cited birth-Moon method. The calculation does not say the Moon stays physically in Rohini for five years; the astronomical position and the symbolic period clock are different quantities.

What can this result support?

Retain Taurus, Rohini, pada 3 and the unrounded longitude as separate fields. A chart application may show one but omit the others. With those fields preserved, another reader can reproduce the classification without relying on a personality description.

Claims about attractiveness, pregnancy, wealth or a destined partner do not follow from these coordinates. This page explains the sector and its timing use; any traditional symbolism needs separate attribution and must not replace evidence about a person’s life.
