Overview

Dhanishta extends from 23°20′ Capricorn to 6°40′ Aquarius, or 293°20′–306°40′ total sidereal longitude. Its first two padas lie in Capricorn and its last two in Aquarius. Mars is the Vimshottari lord.

Both containing signs are Saturn-ruled

What changes between the Capricorn and Aquarius portions?

The rashi and pada change at 300°, but both signs are ruled by Saturn in the seven-planet convention. Mars remains Dhanishta’s Vimshottari lord. This is a useful counterexample to assuming every sign crossing must change the sign ruler.

The whole-sign house number may still change relative to a fixed ascendant. State that reference separately: a common sign ruler does not make Capricorn and Aquarius the same house or the same coordinate interval.

A remainder that is not a whole quarter

For a hypothetical Moon at 1°45′ Aquarius, use total longitude 301°45′. Its offset from 293°20′ is 8°25′ = 505 arcminutes, which places it in pada 3. The remaining arc is 800 − 505 = 295 arcminutes.

The cited Moon-based opening Mars balance is 7 × 295/800 = 2.58125 dasha years. This original exercise uses the remaining arc, not the elapsed 505 arcminutes. The decimal is not a civil end date without a year convention and timestamp.

Does the star name establish wealth or musical skill?

Those are interpretive associations, not measurements supplied by the sector calculation. A name containing a familiar cultural theme cannot establish a person’s income, career or ability. Keep real-world evidence separate.

If an app shows Dhanishta pada 1 at 1°45′ Aquarius, first check whether it restarted counting at 0° Aquarius. The nakshatra began in Capricorn; padas 1–2 have already passed by the sign boundary.
