Swati Nakshatra: Libra Degrees and Rahu
Read Swati’s Libra interval and Rahu association. A two-point example explains why a planet’s Swati placement is not automatically your birth star.
Overview
Swati occupies 6°40′–20° sidereal Libra, or 186°40′–200° total longitude. Rahu is its Vimshottari lord, while Venus rules Libra. The phrase “Swati placement” needs a named planet or point before it can be used in a reading.

What does Swati identify in a position list?
A nakshatra column may appear beside every planet. Mercury, the Sun or lagna can be in Swati without the natal Moon being there. Only the Moon’s Swati placement establishes Swati as Janma Nakshatra in the conventional Moon-based usage.
Rahu’s timing association is also separate from Venus’s ownership of Libra. Neither statement locates Rahu or Venus. Read the bodies’ actual chart coordinates rather than treating the lord label as an occupied house.
Two points in different nakshatras
Consider invented coordinates Mercury 190° and Moon 201°. Mercury is at 10° Libra in Swati pada 2. The Moon is at 21° Libra in Vishakha pada 1. Both occupy Libra, but the birth nakshatra is Vishakha, not Swati.
A Moon-based Vimshottari setup therefore starts from the Moon’s Vishakha lord, Jupiter. It must not take Rahu from Mercury’s Swati row. This example changes the selected reference point, not the underlying star table.
Can Swati prove independence or a career path?
Such descriptions are traditional interpretations, not properties measured by the coordinate. A person’s independence depends on circumstances and behavior that a nakshatra lookup does not supply. Do not present a repeated trait list as research evidence.
If two outputs disagree about Swati, first compare which object each row describes. Only after matching the reference point should you investigate timestamp, ayanamsa and precision at the 186°40′ or 200° limits.
