How to Calculate Ten Gods from Hidden Stems (藏干如何計算十神)

Follow a reproducible Day Master, hidden-stem, Five Phase, and polarity workflow to calculate every Ten God contained in the four branches.

Overview

To calculate a hidden-stem Ten God, verify the Day Stem, expand the target branch, and compare each stored stem with the Day Master. First determine whether the phases are same, output, wealth, authority, or resource; then use yin-yang sameness or difference to select the exact Ten God. Location and qi layer are recorded afterward and do not change the relationship formula.

Verify the Day Master and expand the branch

Read the Day Stem from the calculated Day Pillar. Then use the canonical branch table to list every hidden stem in order.

An incorrect Day Pillar changes every Ten God label; an incorrect hidden-stem table changes the available relationships. Both inputs must be stable.

  • Confirm the Day Stem first.
  • Use the complete canonical hidden-stem row.

Determine the Five Phase relationship direction

Same phase gives the peer group; Day Master generates the Output group; Day Master controls the Wealth group; a phase controlling the Day Master gives Authority; a phase generating it gives Resource.

Direction matters. “Wood and Fire” is not enough without stating which is the Day Master and which is the hidden stem.

  • Use Day Master as the subject.
  • Write the generation-control direction.

Use polarity for the exact Ten God

After selecting the five relation groups, compare yin and yang. Same or different polarity distinguishes Friend from Rob Wealth and the direct or indirect forms of Output, Wealth, Authority, and Resource.

Keep the hidden stem’s original polarity; do not infer it from the branch’s broad phase alone.

  • Preserve exact stem polarity.
  • Apply one consistent Ten God table.

Store identity, location, and strength separately

Output the Ten God together with its branch, pillar, and primary, middle, or residual layer. Then assess season, exposure, roots, and interactions in a separate step.

The calculated name is deterministic chart data, but personality, events, usefulness, and strength are interpretive and conditional.

  • Keep calculation auditable.
  • Do not turn a label into an outcome.
