Roots Entering a Tomb or Storehouse (根氣入墓)

Understand what it means to discuss root qi in a tomb or storage branch, distinguish hidden-stem membership from symbolic imagery, and avoid deterministic claims.

Overview

Roots Entering a Tomb or Storehouse (根氣入墓) refers to root support discussed through Chen, Xu, Chou, or Wei under a selected tomb-storage rule. First verify that the branch actually contains a qualifying hidden stem. “Entering the tomb” is a traditional state description, not proof that qi, a person, money, health, or an event is buried or ended.

Start with the branch’s actual hidden stems

Identify the target visible stem and confirm that the relevant storage branch contains the matching hidden stem. Symbolic tomb correspondence without membership is not the same as a direct root.

Record whether the match is primary, middle, or residual qi and keep the adopted tomb-storage convention visible.

  • Prove the root before naming its state.
  • State the selected convention.

Separate storage, availability, and opening

A storage branch can preserve qi while limiting immediate expression under some methods. Clash or combination may change availability, but “opening the storehouse” is not an automatic rule.

Compare season, exposure, branch integrity, and other support before describing the root as usable or constrained.

  • Do not equate stored with absent.
  • Do not equate clash with automatic release.

Keep tomb-storehouse language method specific

Different schools assign tomb and storage roles using the stem, element, season, or Twelve Life Stages. A page should identify which rule it applies.

Where methods disagree, present the competing view and retain the deterministic hidden-stem facts separately.

  • Label school-specific rules.
  • Preserve the common data layer.

Do not literalize tomb imagery

This term does not establish death, burial, imprisonment, hidden assets, inheritance, illness, or property. Those are unsupported literal extensions.

Use technical state language and qualified real-world advice for consequential matters.

  • No mortality or confinement claim.
  • No financial claim from storehouse imagery.
