Overview
A Residual-Qi Root (餘氣根) links a visible stem to a branch’s remaining hidden layer. It is real root evidence, but generally more dependent on exposure, season, repetition, and support than primary qi. Residual does not mean zero; nor does one residual root establish overall strength or a fixed percentage.

Prove the exact residual match
List the branch’s ordered hidden stems and identify the remaining layer used as the root. Match it with the visible subject under a stated rule.
Do not call every non-primary stem residual if the adopted method distinguishes a middle layer. Keep terminology consistent.
