Roots in the Month Command (月令根氣) are supporting hidden qi found in the Month Branch, whose seasonal role makes it a major strength anchor. The correct Month Branch must first be calculated from the solar-term interval. A monthly root is important but not absolute: qi layer, exact seasonal segment, climate, exposure, other roots, and branch interactions still shape the result.

Calculate the Month Branch before reading its roots

Bazi months change at the relevant solar-term boundary, not at the first day of a lunar month. Resolve the birth instant and time zone before selecting the Month Branch.

A wrong month boundary changes Month Command, hidden-stem roots, seasonal strength, and downstream pattern analysis.

  • Use the exact solar-term interval.
  • Preserve the calculation convention.

Expand every hidden layer in the Month Branch

List the primary, middle, and residual stems in canonical order, then identify which visible stems they can support.

The Month Branch is not synonymous with only its primary qi. Secondary layers remain present, though their seasonal availability may differ.

  • Keep the full hidden-stem row.
  • Attach roots to named visible stems.

Combine seasonal authority with live conditions

Exact seasonal segment, temperature and moisture, exposure, repetition, generation, and other roots can reinforce a monthly root.

Combinations, clashes, drain, and control can redirect or reduce it. The Month Command is a major anchor, not a command to ignore the other seven characters.

  • Use season as an anchor, not a monopoly.
  • Show counterevidence from the full chart.

Do not turn monthly roots into fate guarantees

A Day Master rooted in the month is not automatically strong, favorable, healthy, wealthy, or successful. A Ten God rooted there is not automatically the chart’s final pattern.

Keep strength, pattern, usefulness, and life outcomes as separate questions.

  • Do not conflate root with pattern.
  • No consequential prediction from Month Command alone.
