Activation by Clash in Bazi (沖動)
Learn when an incoming clash increases the salience of a natal branch, how activation differs from outcome, and why timing needs a clear expiry.
Overview
Activation by Clash (沖動) describes a branch becoming more structurally salient when an actual opposing branch arrives or is emphasized. Activation is not intrinsically good or bad and does not name an event. The natal target, incoming layer, force, affected functions, simultaneous relations, start date, and end date must be explicit.

Name the target and incoming branch
Record the exact clash pair, pillars, and whether the activator comes from a Luck Pillar, year, month, or natal repetition.
Do not call general change or stress a clash without the required branch pair.

- Identify source and target.
Measure how strongly the contact registers
Season, roots, repetition, proximity, and support determine whether the clash is prominent or weak.
Combinations and larger groups may redirect or bind part of the force.

Map salience before discussing outcomes
Use pillar and Ten-God context to identify which symbolic functions are contacted.
Then check real circumstances; activation may correspond to motion, review, pressure, or no visible change.

Give every timed activation an expiry
沖動 cannot alone predict relocation, accident, breakup, promotion, surgery, or loss.
Return to the natal baseline when the supplying period ends and record any longer-lived structural change separately.
