Overview

Three-Punishment analysis commonly distinguishes Yin–Si–Shen, Chou–Xu–Wei, Zi–Mao, and school-defined self-punishments. These are not interchangeable pair lists: some schools require a complete three-member set, while others assign partial force. The adopted rule, actual members, repetitions, positions, and concurrent relations must be published.

Declare the group table and completeness rule

List the actual branches and identify the named punishment group.

State whether the adopted school recognizes a two-member partial form or requires the complete set.

  • Publish the convention.
  • Do not fabricate missing members.

Assess repetition, position, and support

Repeated branches and seasonally strong members can make the relation more structurally prominent.

Pillar location and timing show where and when the contact appears without guaranteeing a concrete event.

  • Count actual repetitions.
  • Separate natal and timed evidence.

Keep simultaneous relations in the graph

Yin–Si–Shen also contains harmony, clash, harm, and break pairs; Chou–Xu–Wei contains clashes and storage branches.

Resolve each edge explicitly instead of letting the word punishment replace the whole chart.

  • Retain every relation.
  • Avoid double-counting one pair.

Reject moral and catastrophic literalization

三刑 cannot identify a criminal, abusive person, lawsuit, surgery, accident, or self-harm.

Use neutral language about friction or repeated structural pressure and require real evidence for high-stakes claims.

  • No moral diagnosis.
  • No medical or legal prediction.
