Opening by Clash in Bazi (沖開)
Understand when a clash may expose or release stored content, which branch and timing conditions matter, and why “opening” is not automatic benefit.
Overview
Opening by Clash (沖開) is a conditional interpretation, not a separate pair table. It is most often discussed when a clash contacts a storage or tomb branch and changes access to hidden stems. A valid reading must identify the exact clash, storage content, relative force, season, roots, timing, and what becomes more available without assuming treasure or benefit.
At a glance
- Base relation
- An actual Six-Clash pair
- Common target
- Chen, Xu, Chou, or Wei storage context
- Required evidence
- Hidden contents, force, season, roots, position, and timing
- Possible status
- Access altered, content exposed, structure damaged, or no opening
- Separate question
- Whether the released function is useful
- Boundary
- Opening does not mean receiving wealth
Identify what is actually being clashed
Confirm the canonical clash and show which storage branch is involved.
List its hidden stems and current roles instead of calling every Chen, Xu, Chou, or Wei a treasury.
- Name pair and storage.
- Publish the stored contents.
Test whether access truly changes
Compare season, roots, support, distance, and repeated force on both sides.
A weak timed branch may only signal contact, while overwhelming force may damage rather than productively expose.
- Measure both sides.
- Distinguish access from damage.
Evaluate the released function separately
If a hidden stem becomes more available, its Ten-God role and usefulness still require whole-chart analysis.
The change may help, burden, disperse, or remain practically insignificant.
- Name the affected function.
- Judge benefit after release.
Reject automatic treasury claims
沖開 cannot by itself prove inheritance, cash, property, marriage, illness, or a windfall.
State the structural change and uncertainty without turning storage imagery into a guaranteed event.
- No wealth guarantee.
- No literal container story.
