Overview

Successful Combination Transformation (合化成功) is a high-threshold judgment, not a synonym for seeing a Five-Combination pair. The target phase must be seasonally viable, rooted or strongly supported, connected through the chart, and dominant enough to reorganize the pair. Rival combinations, clashes, counter-elements, and surviving Day-Master roots can block or reduce the result. OpenFate records the evidence and distinguishes partial from true transformation.

At a glance

Prerequisite
A valid, sufficiently effective Five-Combination pair
Season
The target phase must be permitted by the Month Command and climate
Structure
Target roots, exposure, continuity, and dominance are required
Blockers
Rivalry, clashes, counterforce, and surviving source roots
Status
Partial and true transformation must remain distinct
Boundary
Transformation is a technical chart status, not a success guarantee

Require an effective pair before testing a new phase

Confirm the exact pair, chart layer, distance, and access. A remote or heavily contested contact cannot be promoted to transformation merely because its target phase looks useful.

For Day-Master transformation, keep the threshold especially strict because changing the reference stem affects every Ten-God assignment built from it.

  • Validate contact before conversion.
  • Use the stricter Day-Master threshold.

Demand season, roots, continuity, and dominance

The proposed phase should have Month-Command permission, functional roots or strong support, and a continuous route through the chart rather than one isolated matching symbol.

Compare its total evidence with the original stems and counter-elements. True transformation requires the new phase to carry the relation, not simply coexist with it.

  • Use multiple independent supports.
  • Compare target and source evidence.

Clear competing and preserving forces

A second eligible partner, direct clash, strong source-element root, or powerful counter-element can preserve the original identities or split the relationship.

If evidence is mixed, return combination-only or partial transformation. A reviewed system should prefer the narrower status over an overstated binary verdict.

  • Disclose every unresolved blocker.
  • Use partial status when evidence is mixed.

Publish the transformed phase and its scope, not a promised outcome

State which pair transformed, the resulting phase, the decisive supports, the cleared blockers, and whether the judgment belongs to the natal chart or a timing layer.

“Successful” describes passage of a technical threshold. It does not promise wealth, rank, marriage, health, talent, or a favorable event.

  • Make the decision reproducible.
  • Separate technical success from life success.
