Heavenly-Stem Generating Relations (天干相生)
Trace Five-Phase generation between visible Heavenly Stems, including producer cost, recipient capacity, distance, roots, and blocked transfer routes.
Overview
Heavenly-Stem Generating (天干相生) applies the Wood–Fire–Earth–Metal–Water generating sequence to visible stems. The producing stem transfers capacity and may be drained; the recipient gains only what the route can deliver. Season, roots, pillar distance, combinations, control, and useful-function context decide the net effect.
At a glance
- Rule
- Five-Phase generation between visible stems
- Direction
- Producer transfers toward recipient
- Cost
- Production can drain a weak source
- Boundary
- Generating is not automatically favorable
- Reading order
- Verify source capacity before crediting the recipient
- Possible result
- Supported flow, excessive leakage, blockage, or no effective transfer
Trace a directional transfer
Identify the producing stem and receiving stem rather than calling both “support.”
Keep their pillars, polarity, Ten-God roles, and roots in the evidence map.
- Name source and recipient.
- Preserve each stem’s role.
Check whether the source can produce
A rooted and seasonally supported stem can transfer more than an exhausted source.
Heavy output may weaken a needed producer even when the recipient becomes stronger.
- Assess the source first.
- Record gain and cost.
Test distance and blocked pathways
Adjacent visible stems generally have clearer contact than remote pillars.
Combination, control, rivalry, or lack of roots may interrupt or divert the expected flow.
- Scale by topology.
- Name every blocker.
Judge usefulness after structure
Generation can strengthen a needed phase, overfeed an excess, or drain a useful source.
It does not independently prove talent, kindness, fertility, income, health, or success.
- Separate relation from usefulness.
- No event promise.
