Mutual Resonance (比和)
Understand how same-phase symbols can reinforce, share, or compete in Bazi, and why yin-yang polarity, roots, and useful-function context still matter.
Overview
Mutual Resonance (比和) describes symbols belonging to the same Five Phase. Same-phase presence can reinforce continuity and shared capacity, but it can also divide resources or intensify an already excessive phase. Yin-yang polarity, stems versus branches, roots, season, position, Ten-God role, and useful-function context prevent 比和 from being treated as simple friendship or automatic support.
At a glance
- Basis
- Two or more symbols share one Five Phase
- Possible support
- Reinforcement and continuity
- Possible cost
- Competition or excess
- Polarity
- Yin and yang remain distinct
- Role
- Ten-God and pillar functions still differ
- Boundary
- Same phase does not prove cooperation
Confirm shared phase without erasing identity
Identify whether the symbols share Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, or Water.
Keep their yin-yang polarity, stem or branch form, roots, and pillar positions visible.
- Name the common phase.
- Preserve each symbol’s identity.
Measure reinforcement against excess
A needed, weak phase may gain continuity from additional rooted support.
An already dominant phase may become less balanced or compete more intensely for the same route.
- Assess baseline strength.
- Record benefit and cost.
Retain Ten-God and functional differences
For the Day Master, same-phase stems can map to Friend or Rob Wealth according to polarity.
Branches may carry multiple hidden stems, so shared surface phase does not make their full functions identical.
- Keep polarity-based roles.
- Inspect hidden-stem composition.
Do not translate resonance into friendship
比和 does not prove loyalty, teamwork, siblings, competition, wealth loss, or personality.
Use the term for phase structure and rely on real evidence for social or financial conclusions.
- No interpersonal certainty.
- No automatic favorable label.
