Understand 月令司權 as seasonal authority in Bazi, how exact solar-term timing affects the governing qi, and why authority does not make the Month Branch exclusive.

Overview

Month Command in Authority (月令司權) describes the Month Branch as the chart’s principal seasonal reference at birth. Its authority comes from the solar-year phase and the qi active within that branch, not from a claim that the Month Pillar decides every result. Exact term boundaries, hidden-stem composition, seasonal depth, and the other seven characters determine how that authority is expressed or contested.

Locate seasonal authority precisely

Determine the Month Branch from the exact solar-term transition, not the civil month or lunar month label. Then identify the branch’s hidden qi under the declared table.

The visible Month Stem participates in the chart but is not itself the Month Command. Keeping those positions distinct prevents circular reasoning.

  • Calculate the solar-term Month Branch.
  • Separate Month Stem from Month Command.

Read authority as seasonal leverage

司權 means that the monthly condition gives some elements and stems greater seasonal availability than others. It also frames heat, cold, dryness, dampness, growth, and decline.

Authority is contextual rather than moral. A seasonally powerful force can be useful, excessive, constrained, or redirected.

  • Describe the available qi.
  • Do not equate power with favorability.

Let the full chart confirm or contest the first reading

After the monthly baseline, inspect roots, exposed stems, Resource and Companion support, Output, Wealth, Officer pressure, combinations, and branch conflicts.

State which conclusions come directly from season and which require whole-chart confirmation. This keeps Month Command evidence from absorbing unrelated claims.

  • Preserve evidence provenance.
  • Report conflicting forces.

Avoid one-month determinism

月令司權 does not mean the birth month fixes temperament, career rank, family status, health, or fortune. It is a method for ordering structural evidence.

Boundary-sensitive charts should carry calculation uncertainty until time-zone and solar-term inputs are resolved.

  • No one-pillar destiny claim.
  • Resolve time uncertainty first.
