Natal Strength versus Luck-Cycle Strength (原局旺衰與歲運旺衰的區別)

Separate the natal chart’s structural strength from the temporary strength created by Luck Pillars and annual luck, with clear evidence provenance for each layer.

Editorially reviewed:

Overview

Natal strength describes the structural balance present in the birth chart, while luck-cycle strength describes how that baseline operates under an active Luck Pillar and annual layer. The two can differ without contradiction. A natal weak Day Master may receive strong temporary support, and a natal strong Day Master may be drained or controlled in a cycle. The safest method stores each layer separately and explains where every changed conclusion comes from.

At a glance

Natal layer
Fixed birth-chart structure and season
Luck layer
Active Da Yun stem, branch, and interactions
Annual layer
Shorter activation within the active cycle
Possible result
Operating strength can differ from natal classification
Audit rule
Every changed weight keeps its source layer
Limit
Timing does not rewrite birth data

Establish natal strength once as the baseline

Assess the Month Command, roots, exposed stems, support, drain, control, and natal interactions before adding any timing symbol.

Store the conclusion with its method and uncertainty. Reclassifying the natal chart to fit every later period makes the analysis impossible to audit.

  • Complete the natal assessment first.
  • Version rather than silently overwrite it.

Add Luck Pillar and annual layers in sequence

Overlay the active Luck Pillar, measure its changes, and only then add the annual stem and branch. Each layer inherits the prior context.

A timing relation can activate a natal potential, but the source should remain labeled as natal, Luck Pillar, annual, or a cross-layer interaction.

  • Apply layers in a fixed order.
  • Keep provenance for cross-layer effects.

Explain differences without treating them as contradictions

A weak natal Day Master can operate with greater support in one cycle, while a strong natal chart can face heavier drain or control in another.

Report both statements: the natal classification and the period-specific modification. Do not collapse them into one timeless adjective.

  • Keep baseline and overlay conclusions together.
  • Describe temporary scope explicitly.

Do not convert structural layers into fixed life stories

Neither natal nor cycle strength directly measures health, willpower, moral character, social status, or the value of a life period.

Use timing labels to organize traditional chart evidence, not to replace observed circumstances or professional advice.

  • No personality ranking from strength.
  • No automatic good-or-bad period label.
