Strength-School Assessment Method in Bazi (旺衰派判斷方法)
Understand the strength-school approach to Bazi, its evidence hierarchy, its relationship to useful-god selection, and where different lineages set different thresholds.
Overview
The Strength-School Assessment Method (旺衰派判斷方法) organizes a Bazi reading around the Day Master’s relative support and opposition. It typically prioritizes Month Command, roots, generation, peers, drain, control, and interactions before selecting balancing or routing strategies. It is one influential family of methods, not the only Bazi framework, and its thresholds must not be silently mixed with structure, climate, image, or following systems.

Define the reference and evidence hierarchy
The method takes the Day Master as the reference point and asks which chart forces support, generate, drain, control, or redirect it.
Month Command and roots usually receive more weight than nominal counts. The adopted hierarchy should be stated before examples are evaluated.
- Name the Day Master reference.
- Publish the evidence hierarchy.
Classify ordinary and extreme states separately
Most charts remain within a strong-to-weak continuum. Extremely strong, extremely weak, and following candidates require additional tests rather than more emphatic adjectives.
A viable root or mixed dominant route can reject an extreme classification even when a score is lopsided.
- Use separate extreme-pattern gates.
- Preserve disqualifying evidence.
Do not jump directly from strength to usefulness
Strength helps organize the balancing question, but climate, structure, circulation, illness points, and the requested domain can alter which force is useful.
If another method is introduced, mark the transition. Mixing conclusions without their premises makes the reading impossible to audit.
- Separate classification from strategy.
- Do not blend schools silently.
Present the school as tradition, not science
The framework is a traditional interpretive methodology. It has internal rules that can be tested for consistency, but it is not a clinical or financial measurement system.
Use it for cultural learning and reflective analysis, not as a substitute for professional evidence.
- Claim consistency, not scientific validation.
- Keep practical safeguards visible.
