Overview
Prosperous (旺) is the phase assigned to the Five Element that governs the current season in the 旺相休囚死 framework. It has the strongest seasonal position in that specific relational model. 旺 describes availability, not guaranteed benefit: excessive prosperous qi may need expression, drain, control, or climate correction, while a useful prosperous element can support structure.

Derive 旺 from the active season
Identify the solar-term season and assign the element conventionally governing it. That element occupies the 旺 position in the five-phase relation.
Earth treatment around seasonal transitions differs by school, so the adopted rule for earth months must be disclosed rather than silently assumed.

Place the seasonal phase inside the chart network
Compare the prosperous element with the Day Master, hidden stems, roots, visible forces, and active interactions. Determine whether it generates, assists, drains, controls, or is controlled.
The same 旺 phase can support one chart and create congestion in another. State the relation rather than using the label alone.

The word “prosperous” does not guarantee wealth, status, vitality, happiness, or good luck. It names a seasonal phase of an element.
