Overview

Seasonal Qi from the Month Command (月令得氣) means that a stem or element receives meaningful qi from the monthly season, whether through direct command, a hidden-qi stage, or a declared generation relation. It is broader and often weaker than saying the target fully receives the command. The exact meaning depends on the adopted school, so the target, relation, and seasonal depth must be shown.

Name who receives qi and by which route

State whether the target is the Day Master, another stem, or an element. Then identify the Month Branch relation that supplies seasonal relevance.

Direct same-phase command, hidden-stem participation, and generation from seasonal qi are not identical strengths of evidence.

  • Name target and source.
  • Separate direct and indirect routes.

Refine the reading with seasonal depth

Near a solar-term transition, residual qi may remain relevant; later in the segment, the branch’s main qi may be more settled under the adopted table.

If the method does not use governing-day tables, say so. Do not borrow their labels without their calculation.

  • Declare the depth model.
  • Keep table-dependent claims traceable.

Combine seasonal qi with roots and whole-chart forces

Seasonal qi can improve availability without providing a branch root or visible assistance. The final strength audit still needs ground, generation, peers, drain, and control.

A target may have qi yet remain weak, or lack direct command yet remain strong through other channels.

  • Do not equate qi with overall strength.
  • Continue the full audit.

Avoid vague energy language

“Having qi” should name a chart relation, not an invisible wellness score or a claim that the person has more vitality.

Medical and psychological conclusions require appropriate evidence outside Bazi.

  • Translate qi structurally.
  • No health inference from 得氣.
