Overview

Supporting and Opposing Element Groups (同黨與異黨) are a shorthand for organizing forces relative to a reference, usually the Day Master. Resource and Companion elements commonly enter the supporting side; Output, Wealth, and Officer elements commonly enter the opposing or draining side. The grouping is analytical, not moral, and must be weighted by season, roots, exposure, interactions, and the chart’s actual strategy.

Choose the reference before assigning groups

For Day Master strength, generation and same-element assistance usually support, while expression, wealth production, and control draw from or constrain the Day Master.

If the analysis changes reference to a structure or another stem, the groups may change. Keep the reference explicit.

  • Name the reference target.
  • Recompute groups when the target changes.

Weight members by actual availability

A seasonally empowered primary root and an unrooted residual hidden stem are not equal members. Exposure and branch integrity also matter.

Deduplicate one source that appears under multiple Ten God or element labels.

  • Grade each source.
  • Avoid raw camp headcounts.

Separate strength opposition from practical usefulness

A force on the opposing side may be exactly what an excessive Day Master needs for circulation or control. A supporting force can worsen imbalance.

Use the groups to classify relative strength, then evaluate climate, structure, and usefulness separately.

  • Opposing does not mean harmful.
  • Do not skip the strategy layer.

Do not turn analytical groups into social factions

同黨 and 異黨 do not identify allies, enemies, political camps, loyal friends, or hostile relatives.

Relationship conclusions require additional chart and real-world evidence.

  • No friend-enemy labeling.
  • Keep moral judgment out of the model.
