Peer Support (De Zhu) in Bazi (得助)
Learn how Companion forces assist the Day Master, how peer support differs from roots and Resource generation, and when excessive assistance becomes imbalance.
Overview
Peer Support (得助) means that the Day Master receives assistance from same-element Companion forces, commonly Friend and Rob Wealth under the Ten God system. Support may be visible, hidden, rooted, seasonal, or weak. It strengthens the support side of the audit, but it is not always useful: an already excessive Day Master may need output, wealth, or control rather than more peers.

Identify actual same-element assistance
Compare other stems with the Day Master and classify same-element forces by polarity as Friend or Rob Wealth. Hidden companions must retain their source branch and layer.
A nominal companion without root or season may contribute less than a rooted visible peer. Record quality instead of treating all occurrences equally.
- Derive the Ten God correctly.
- Keep visible and hidden support separate.
Keep assistance distinct from ground and generation
得助 describes peers; 得地 describes roots; 得生 describes Resource generation. One symbol can participate in more than one analytical view, but the evidence should not be counted twice.
Separating channels makes the final strength decision reproducible and shows what kind of support is missing.
- Label the support channel.
- Deduplicate overlapping evidence.
Ask whether assistance improves balance
A weak Day Master may benefit from reliable peers, while a strong one can become more congested or competitive when Companion forces increase.
Usefulness therefore depends on current balance, structure, climate, and timing—not on the positive wording of “assistance.”
- Strength and usefulness are different.
- Check the current imbalance first.
Do not read chart peers as literal helpers
得助 does not prove helpful friends, siblings, colleagues, investors, or social support. Those life claims require palace, Ten God, timing, and factual context.
Use the term for elemental assistance and keep interpersonal conclusions conditional.
- No guaranteed helper or ally.
- Avoid literalizing technical labels.
