How Annual Influences Work
Understand how an annual stem and branch interact with the natal chart and active Luck Pillar through auditable roles and relations.
Overview
Annual influences work by adding one dated Jiazi to the existing natal and Luck-Pillar layers. The annual stem receives a Ten-God role relative to the Day Master; the branch contributes hidden stems, roots, and branch relations. Read exact contacts, formation conditions, and competing evidence, then limit the conclusion to the defined year interval.

Build the complete annual layer
Calculate the year Jiazi under the selected year-boundary policy and retain both characters.
Derive the stem role, branch hidden stems, roots, and relation candidates without collapsing them into one favorable or unfavorable label.
- Use deterministic calendar output.
- Preserve all annual components.
Test contacts with both longer layers
Compare the annual symbols with each natal pillar and the active Luck Pillar using registered generation, control, combination, clash, punishment, harm, and break rules.
Name the participants, completeness, distance, season, roots, and competing relations where the selected rule requires them.
- Trace every claimed relation.
- Separate candidate contact from formation.
Explain what the year reinforces or interrupts
A year can repeat a symbol, complete a longer relation, supply root, expose conflict, or redirect an existing pathway.
State the mechanism, affected layer, duration, confidence, and counterevidence rather than converting the analysis into a fixed event.
- Keep provenance visible.
- Publish uncertainty and limits.
Symbol interaction is not event causation
An annual relation cannot establish medical, legal, financial, relationship, employment, or safety outcomes.
Use contemporary evidence and appropriate professionals for consequential decisions and never use a chart to blame a person for harm.
- Avoid causal claims.
- Keep high-stakes domains outside prediction.
