Read a Luck-Pillar transition with exact calculated dates, separate old and new layers, and avoid inventing a universal overlap window.

Overview

A Luck-Pillar transition begins at the calculated handover time produced by the chosen start-age rule. Before that boundary the previous pillar is active; after it the new pillar is active. Some schools discuss a gradual experiential transition, but a system should not double-count both pillars unless it exposes a specific policy. Preserve the timestamp, method, and annual context.

Calculate the handover before interpreting it

Use the declared forward-reverse and start-age rules to produce a calendar timestamp, not merely an integer age.

Retain civil-time assumptions and the calculation version so the same birth data reproduces the same boundary.

  • Store an exact date and time.
  • Expose the calculation policy.

Assign each moment to one active pillar

The previous Luck Pillar governs dates before the boundary and the new pillar governs dates after it under a discrete model.

If a tradition uses an overlap or gradual model, state its duration and weighting instead of invisibly counting both at full strength.

  • Prevent double counting.
  • Label school-specific overlap rules.

Compare what actually changes across the boundary

Contrast the two complete Jiazi, their Ten-God roles, roots, relations, and contacts with the natal chart.

Annual and monthly layers may explain shorter fluctuations near the handover and should not be mistaken for proof that the transition itself caused an event.

  • Use a before-and-after evidence table.
  • Keep shorter layers separate.

A handover is not automatically unstable

Changing Luck Pillars does not prove accident, illness, job loss, relocation, separation, or a sudden personality change.

Describe technical differences conditionally and use current evidence and professional support for real-world decisions.

  • Avoid transition fear claims.
  • Do not retrofit events to the boundary.
