Lan Tai Miao Xuan: Nayin Patterns and Context
Study Lan Tai Miao Xuan as a historical Nayin text, identify its pairing rules and editions, and keep its categories separate from Day-Master structures.
Overview
Lan Tai Miao Xuan (蘭台妙選, Lán Tái Miào Xuǎn) is a transmitted work associated with Nayin-based and configuration-based selection in the Lu Ming tradition. It uses sexagenary-pillar classifications, named forms, combinations, direction, and conditional auspicious or adverse judgments that do not map directly onto later Day-Master Ten Gods or Month-Command structures. Surviving references and editions should be cited by chapter and passage, with attribution and commentary distinguished. A named pattern requires its complete pillar membership and stated conditions; a similar-sounding modern label is not sufficient. The work documents an important historical method but cannot be used as a standalone score or literal proof of status, character, health, or events.

Locate the received passage and commentary
Identify the edition, chapter, rule heading, and any commentator. When only a quotation in another compendium survives, cite that transmission path explicitly.
Do not claim independent support from a later book that reproduces the same passage. Separate textual preservation from separate doctrinal agreement.
- Make the transmission path visible.
- Distinguish copy, quotation, and independent source.
Verify complete Nayin and pillar conditions
List the exact sexagenary pillars, their Nayin classes, positions, direction, and any required combination or supporting member. Confirm whether partial forms are recognized by the consulted text.
Do not assign a named form from one matching character or translated keyword. Record missing members, competing relations, and stated invalidating conditions.
- Publish every required member and position.
- Report partial and failed formations.
Do not merge Nayin forms with Ziping structures
A Nayin configuration and a Month-Command structure use different inputs and classification rules. One cannot confirm or cancel the other without an explicit comparative policy.
If both are presented, calculate them separately and explain their historical relationship. Never combine labels into an invented stronger score.
- Keep method outputs separately attributable.
- No cross-method score multiplication.
Use named forms as historical classifications
Auspicious and adverse names reflect historical values and do not establish modern status, character, health, marriage, wealth, or a future event.
Use direct evidence for decisions and mark the page as traditional study. A classical name is not a credential, risk flag, or outcome guarantee.
- Contextualize evaluative names.
- No screening or deterministic claim.
