Strength-Based Bazi: Evidence, Sequence, and Limits
Learn how strength-based Bazi compares seasonal support, roots, allies, output, wealth, and control without reducing a chart to character counts or an opaque score.
Overview
The strength-based school of Bazi (旺衰派, Wàng Shuāi Pài) organizes analysis around the relative support and pressure affecting the Day Master or another declared reference. It weighs Month Command, seasonal phase, roots, revealed and hidden support, companions, output, wealth, control, combinations, transformations, and effective circulation. Practitioners differ on scales, weights, and the threshold for strong, weak, extremely strong, extremely weak, or following structures. A transparent method publishes evidence and counterevidence instead of only a percentage. Strength is a technical relationship within a chart, not physical energy, willpower, health, morality, social power, or a guarantee that strengthening or weakening an element will improve life.

Define the reference and strength question
State whether the analysis concerns Day-Master support, a structure’s effective force, or another function. These are related but not interchangeable questions.
Name the strength scale and categories before classification. Do not report a precise score when the method only supports an ordinal judgment.

Weigh seasonal and relational evidence
Begin with Month Command and seasonal phase, then inspect effective roots, revealed and hidden stems, distance, combinations, transformations, support, output, wealth, and control.
Character counts are only an inventory. A present symbol may be weak or blocked, while a single rooted and seasonally supported symbol may carry greater force.

Expose thresholds and alternative readings
Practitioners may disagree about rooting, hidden-stem weight, seasonal depth, combinations, extreme states, or following. Show which decision creates the divergence.
Use scenarios where the disputed rule changes the conclusion. Do not average incompatible methods into a number that neither school recognizes.

Do not literalize strength or prescribe support
A strong or weak Day Master is not a statement about body, resilience, leadership, intelligence, morality, or mental health. Weak does not mean bad and strong does not mean good.
Elemental support is a chart function, not a medical, dietary, geographic, relationship, color, or financial prescription. Use direct evidence for real decisions.
