What Is Arching Lu and Noble (拱祿拱貴) in BaZi?
Learn the five Arching Lu and five Arching Noble day-hour pairs, same-stem rule, missing-middle requirement, filling and blocker boundaries.
Overview
Arching Lu and Noble is the standard English name for 拱祿拱貴. The source gives ten exact same-stem Day-Hour pairs. Arching Lu uses Gui-Hai with Gui-Chou or Gui-Chou with Gui-Hai to arch Zi; Ding-Si with Ding-Wei to arch Wu; Ji-Wei with Ji-Si to arch Wu; and Wu-Chen with Wu-Wu to arch Si. Arching Noble uses Jia-Shen with Jia-Xu to arch You; Yi-Wei with Yi-You to arch Shen; Jia-Yin with Jia-Zi to arch Chou; Wu-Shen with Wu-Wu to arch Wei; and Xin-Chou with Xin-Mao to arch Yin. The middle branch must be absent: filling it ends the “empty arch” premise, while punishment, clash, break, harm, Yang Blade, Seven Killings, void and damage to the day-hour pair can also invalidate it. Month command and actual ordinary structures remain primary. OpenFate does not insert the middle branch or detect this pattern.

Use the transmitted ten-pair table, not any two neighboring branches
Five pairs arch a Lu branch and five arch an Officer or Noble target. Each pair has the same stem on the Day and Hour Pillars and a specific branch between its endpoints. Reversing Gui-Hai and Gui-Chou is explicitly listed; other unlisted reversals cannot be assumed.
The arched branch is a classical relational inference. It is not inserted as a fifth branch, cannot supply hidden stems as visible facts and must not be counted twice with actual chart relations.
- Match one complete Day-Hour pair from the source table.
- Keep the middle branch interpretive and absent.
Filling and damage end the empty-arching premise
The passage repeatedly warns against filling the middle position. Punishment, clash, break, harm, Yang Blade, Seven Killings and damage to either endpoint can prevent the pair from holding the inferred target; void is also named as a problem.
Connection to month command and strength of the Day Master are supporting context, not substitutes for the exact pair. If the month command already supplies a usable structure, that direct pattern is judged first.
- Check the middle branch is truly absent.
- Do not let an arch override direct month-command evidence.
OpenFate validates the endpoints but does not create the middle
OpenFate can identify all ten Day-Hour pairs, same-stem status, the middle branch, visible filling, void, punishments, clashes, harms, breaks, Ten Gods and month-command context.
It does not generate the arched branch or output Arching Lu and Noble. A detector would require an explicit pair table, absence and damage states, direction rules, precedence and counterexamples, with no change to existing reports.
- Display the two actual pillars and the inferred target separately.
- Reject unlisted pairs rather than generalizing.
An arched Noble does not prove office or privilege
The terms Lu and Noble belong to a historical technical system. They cannot establish official position, social class, exam success, money, recognition or a favorable future.
Do not use the pattern for employment, financial, legal, relationship, health or safety decisions.
- Remove rank, wealth and event guarantees.
- Keep the page educational and source-limited.
