What Is One-Point Focus (致一凝神) in BaZi?
Learn the five-position Nayin, stem, branch, fortune-symbol and strength routes behind One-Point Focus, their limits and OpenFate boundaries.
Overview
One-Point Focus is the workbook’s English name for 致一凝神. The source does not give one formula. It gathers several five-position structures across Year, Month, Day, Hour and Fetus: four Nayin positions of one phase with one different phase at Year or Hour; repeated branches or stems with one exceptional Day or Hour; fortune symbols gathered in four places and absent from one; four dead or extinct positions with one prosperous Day or Hour; or four paired stems with one Proper Officer. These are related by the idea that separate evidence “returns to one,” not by an interchangeable score. OpenFate does not issue a One-Point Focus verdict.

Separate the five positions and the source route first
The passage uses Year, Month, Day, Hour and Fetus. It gives Nayin examples such as four Wood with one Water or four Metal with one Earth, alongside branch and stem examples in which one Day or Hour differs from the other positions. Merely counting four similar labels and one different label is not enough.
Other examples compare Lu, Horse, Officer, Seal, Noble or Virtue symbols, or place four dead and extinct conditions against one prosperous position. Another route uses four paired stems and one Proper Officer. Each route has its own anchor and evidence layer.

“Returning to one” is a source principle, not a numeric threshold
The text says the evidence must interact and converge upon one, but supplies no universal score, position priority, clash-and-void policy or tie-breaker for several exceptional positions.
A responsible evaluation can test a complete stated route and label missing, conflicting or unavailable Fetus evidence. It cannot turn any four matching tags plus one outlier into an automatic formation.

OpenFate does not create a fifth position or a unity score
The product calculates the four natal pillars from birth inputs and its declared time policy. A Fetus Origin becomes a product fact only when an explicit deterministic implementation displays it; Nayin, symbolic markers and strength remain separate systems.
There is no One-Point Focus detector. This page does not add a Fetus pillar, combine fortune symbols or strength into a score, or change a chart, report, account field or saved result.

The source praises the formation with rare-minister and exceptional-rank language. That is historical selection language, not evidence of attention, spiritual ability or achievement.
