What Is Goat Strikes Pig and Snake (羊擊豬蛇) in BaZi?

Overview
Goat Strikes Pig and Snake is the standard English name for 羊擊豬蛇. The source limits the route to Xin-Wei or Gui-Wei day pillars and requires two or three Wei branches. Repeated Wei is read as drawing an absent Hai, which then clashes toward an absent Si; hidden Bing in Si is Officer for Xin and hidden Wu is Officer for Gui. The prose asks for You or Chou to retain the target, while a following verse reads You or Shen, so that branch detail is a source variant and must not be silently merged. Visible Hai or Si, filling, clash-punishment disruption, a missing threshold or a clearer direct Wealth/Officer structure prevents a strict match. Only Xin-Wei and Gui-Wei enter the stated route
The complete Day Pillar is the first gate. The source then asks for two or three Wei in the chart, not merely one Wei Day Branch. Its remote sequence moves from repeated Wei to absent Hai and from Hai to absent Si.
For Xin, Si contains the Bing Officer; for Gui, Si contains the Wu Officer. Hai and Si remain interpretive targets. They are not added to the Four Pillars or used as if they were visible branches.

The retaining branch has a documented prose-verse conflict
The prose calls for one You or Chou to retain the invited qi, but the accompanying verse says You or Shen. These readings are not equivalent. OpenFate records both and does not promote either disputed branch into a universal pass condition.
The source also warns against filling, clash and punishment, then states that the surrounding indirect patterns apply only where direct Wealth and Officer are absent. Ordinary month-command and Ten-God structures therefore retain priority.
