What Is Two Stems Unmixed (兩干不雜) in BaZi?
Learn the A-B-A-B stem arrangement behind Two Stems Unmixed, its Jia-Wu and Geng-Wu examples, branch evidence, non-conditions and product limits.
Overview
Two Stems Unmixed is the workbook’s English name for 兩干不雜. The source defines it through alternating visible stems, such as Jia year, Wu month, Jia day and Wu hour, and gives the complete chart Geng-Yin, Wu-Yin, Geng-Yin, Wu-Yin. Exactly two stem identities appear in an A-B-A-B order; a chart with any two stems in an arbitrary arrangement is not automatically the cited form. The branches, season, roots and relations between the two stems still determine what the structure can do. OpenFate can show repetition but does not declare this pattern.
At a glance
- Stem count
- Exactly two visible stem identities
- Source arrangement
- A → B → A → B in pillar order
- Simple example
- Jia → Wu → Jia → Wu
- Full example
- Geng-Yin, Wu-Yin, Geng-Yin, Wu-Yin
- Not sufficient
- Any arbitrary chart containing only two stems
- Product boundary
- No OpenFate Two Stems Unmixed verdict
The cited form alternates two stem identities across all four pillars
The source writes Jia-Wu-Jia-Wu as its simple form and gives Geng-Yin, Wu-Yin, Geng-Yin, Wu-Yin as a complete example. Both preserve the A-B-A-B order.
“Unmixed” means no third visible stem enters this four-position arrangement. It does not erase hidden stems or turn the two stems into one element.
- Count the four visible stems and preserve their order.
- Keep hidden stems and branch contents in the evidence model.
The branches and the relationship between the two stems still matter
The complete example repeats Yin in every branch, adding a same-branch structure that is not required by the short Jia-Wu illustration. Those layers must be shown separately.
Month Command, roots, generation, control, combination, clashes and useful or damaging relations determine whether the arrangement has practical coherence. Two repeated names alone are not a favorable verdict.
- Separate the alternating-stem rule from any repeated-branch overlay.
- Display season, roots and relations as supporting or opposing evidence.
OpenFate can verify A-B-A-B without converting it into a score
The engine preserves visible stem order, elements, Ten Gods, roots, hidden stems and interactions.
There is no Two Stems Unmixed detector. The arrangement does not change strength, useful elements, reports, scores or saved charts.
- Use exact visible-stem equality and order only.
- No favorable flag, score or report mutation.
Two alternating stems do not guarantee reputation or achievement
The old formula says fame and benefit arrive together. That is literary praise, not evidence of education, career, income or social standing.
Do not promise recognition, credentials, wealth, office, talent or success. Assess real qualifications, records and circumstances instead.
- No fame, credential, wealth or rank guarantee.
- No talent, career or outcome prediction.
