What Is Farming and Harvesting Pattern (稼穡格) in BaZi?

Farming and Harvesting Pattern is the workbook standard English name for 稼穡格. San Ming Tong Hui begins with a Wu or Ji Earth Day Master born in a seasonal Earth month. Its prose does not simply demand “all Earth and no Wood”: it values one Wood as Authority, warns that too much Wood hollows Earth, allows measured Fire around Chen or Wei, and cautions that excessive Fire dries Earth. It also treats repeated Chou or Xu and Metal leakage carefully, while a preserved verse gives another compact branch formula. The received rule is more selective than “much Earth”
San Ming Tong Hui starts with Wu or Ji Earth born in the last month of a season, the four transitional Earth months. It then differentiates the Earth branches and the elements joining them instead of treating every Earth-heavy chart as the same form.
The prose allows one Wood as Authority but says multiple Wood participants can leave Earth hollow. Chen or Wei Earth may benefit from limited Si or Wu Fire, while excessive Fire dries the soil. Repeated Chou or Xu and additional Metal are also questioned because their stored Metal can drain Earth.

Prose and verse conditions should not be fused into one invented checklist
A preserved verse gives a compact Wu–Ji and Earth-branch formulation that does not reproduce every qualification in the prose. These passages are evidence from the same tradition, but they are not a license to require every Earth branch or to forbid every non-Earth element.
Modern schools also differ over whether controlled Metal leakage is useful expression or a loss of dedicated form. A reliable page names the source route and school boundary instead of presenting an unsupported purity percentage.
