What Is Six Jia Approaching Qian (六甲趨乾) in BaZi?
Learn the Jia-day and Hai-hour gate, absent Yin Lu, Yin filling, Si clash, Mao binding and the source conflict over Wealth and Resource.
Overview
Six Jia Approaching Qian is the standard English name for 六甲趨乾. The source requires a Jia Day Master with Hai hour. Hai is the Qian or “Heaven Gate” position and Jia’s growth stage; the classical route treats Hai as remotely combining out an absent Yin, Jia’s Lu. Visible Yin fills the target, Si clashes or punishes Hai, and Mao combines Hai so it can no longer connect toward Yin. A second explanation emphasizes Ren in Hai as Resource, favors Xin Metal that generates Resource, and warns against Wealth; however another cited verse says repeated Wealth can be favorable, and the editor reconciles the conflict conditionally—visible Resource dislikes Wealth, while a strong Day Master may use Wealth. The complete gate is Jia day with Hai hour
Hai is associated with Qian and the Heaven Gate and is Jia Wood’s growth stage. The special route then interprets Hai as reaching toward an absent Yin Lu. A Hai elsewhere does not replace the required hour position.
Yin remains an inferred target, not a generated branch. If Yin is visible, Lu can be read directly and the special absence premise ends.

Si, Mao and the Wealth-Resource disagreement require context
Si clashes and participates in punishment with Hai; Mao combines Hai and prevents the stated connection toward Yin. These are actual visible relations and must be checked before the special label.
One source statement favors Resource and dislikes Wealth, while another praises repeated Wealth. The editor’s note makes the distinction conditional: when Resource is exposed, Wealth can damage it; when Jia is strong, Wealth may be usable. This is a contextual disagreement, not a universal Wealth rule.
