What Is Triple Convergence (三合聚集) in BaZi?
Learn Triple Convergence as three matching stems, branches or Nayin positions, its Dragon-Phoenix alias, excess-strength warning and OpenFate boundaries.
Overview
Triple Convergence is the workbook’s English name for 三合聚集, which the cited page also prints as 三合聚會 and calls the Dragon-Phoenix Three Terraces pattern. It does not mean the ordinary Earthly-Branch Three Harmony combination. Instead, among year, month, day, hour and fetal pillar, three positions share one Heavenly Stem, one Earthly Branch or one Nayin element. The source gives three Ding with one Gui, three Ren with one Wu and three Geng with one Bing; it also cites three Yin with one Shen, three Hai with one Yin, and Jia-Zi, Yi-Chou and Ren-Shen sharing Metal Nayin. It warns that excessive seasonal or root strength can spoil the reading and supplies qualified Metal-Earth and Earth-Fire exceptions. OpenFate does not count fetal-pillar triples or issue this verdict.

“Triple” counts repeated attributes, not a standard Three Harmony set
The source counts year, month, day, hour and fetal pillar and asks whether three share a stem, branch or Nayin element. Each route has a different comparison field.
A Shen-Zi-Chen or other ordinary Three Harmony set is a separate branch relation. Three different branches forming a trine do not satisfy this repeated-attribute definition.
- Name the three exact positions and shared attribute.
- Keep ordinary Three Harmony on its canonical relation page.
Repetition must be checked against excess and source-specific support
The text warns against excessive establishment and prosperity, then qualifies how Metal with Earth or Earth with Fire may be supported. It also gives Horse and combination interpretations for its branch examples.
Those qualifications are not a universal formula. Season, roots, supporting element, counteraction and the difference between visible and Nayin evidence must remain explicit.
- Audit season, roots, support and overconcentration.
- Label every exception as source-specific.
OpenFate does not turn repeated counts into a new interaction
The engine can count visible stems and branches and preserve any separately calculated Nayin data.
There is no Triple Convergence detector. A fetal pillar is not added, and the count does not change branch interactions, strength, reports or saved charts.
- Keep each evidence type in its original field.
- No virtual count, new trine, score or report mutation.
Three matching positions do not guarantee status or fortune
The alias and verse imply fullness, distinction and favorable outcomes. Those literary associations are not measured consequences.
Do not infer leadership, fame, rank, exam results, wealth, relationships, health, accident risk or lifespan. Use current real-world evidence.
- No fame, rank, exam or wealth guarantee.
- No relationship, health, accident or lifespan prediction.
