What Is Tripod Foundation (鼎足鎡基) in BaZi?

Overview
Tripod Foundation is the English catalog name for 鼎足鎡基. “Tripod” points to a Three-Harmony frame, but the source lists several separate routes: a complete trine with the Three Wonders; a trine with one Travelling Horse; a trine whose Horse combines with another branch; a trine accompanied by stems associated with its phase; or three pillars whose Nayin carries the trine’s “home” phase. It also records a Three-Harmony Horse “changing its head,” where the Horse appears while one trine member is absent. These routes favor prosperous qi but are not one interchangeable detector. Identify the complete Three-Harmony route before judging support
The passage begins with a complete Three-Harmony set, then distinguishes companions. One route adds the Three Wonders Jia–Wu–Geng or Yi–Bing–Ding; another adds one Travelling Horse; a third asks that the Horse participate in a separate combination. These are different evidence paths.
The reference-stem route connects Wood people with Hai–Mao–Wei, Fire people with Yin–Wu–Xu and corresponding phase families. The “home” route instead uses complete sexagenary pillars whose Nayin carries the trine’s own phase. Stems, branches and Nayin must remain separate.

The source repeatedly prefers the stated structures when their qi is prosperous. It also warns about a Metal case in Yin–Wu–Xu, but that traditional lifespan statement is not a reproducible health rule and must not be operationalized.
The “changing-head” variant records the Horse branch while one member of the relevant trine is missing. It is a named alternate route, not permission to treat every incomplete trine as complete or to invent the absent branch.
