What Is Punishment-Combination Gains Lu (刑合得祿) in BaZi?
Learn the six Gui-day and Jia-Yin-hour rule, absent Wu Officer target, You-Chou support, blockers, pattern precedence and product limits.
Overview
Punishment-Combination Gains Lu is the standard English name for 刑合得祿, also called the Xing-He pattern. Its principal route requires a Gui Day Master and a Jia-Yin hour. The classical model treats Yin as activating an absent Si, whose hidden Wu is Proper Officer for Gui; one You or Chou can connect to Si and retain the invited target. Visible Wu or Ji, Si filling the target, Shen or Geng damaging Jia-Yin, and Hai, Wu or Xu obstructing the route all weaken or replace the premise. If the month command already establishes Officer, Killing or Hurting Officer, that ordinary structure takes precedence. The source also preserves secondary variants, but they must not be merged into the principal rule. OpenFate has no Punishment-Combination Gains Lu detector.

The principal rule joins a Gui day to a Jia-Yin hour
The source begins with the six Gui days and a Jia-Yin hour. Gui treats Wu as Proper Officer, Wu has its Lu position at Si, and the old model says Yin activates the hidden Wu in an otherwise absent Si. The language describes a classical inference; it does not add Si or Wu to the calculated pillars.
One You or Chou can connect with Si and is described as retaining the invited value. The rule is therefore more specific than “Yin punishment creates rank”: Day Master, hour pillar, absent target and supporting relation must all be recorded separately.
- Require the complete Gui-day and Jia-Yin-hour route.
- Keep inferred Si-Wu separate from visible chart data.
Visible Officer, damaged Yin and the month command can displace the route
Visible Wu or Ji exposes Officer or Killing, while Si fills the target. Shen clashes Yin, Geng damages Jia, and the text treats Hai, Wu and Xu as impediments. A You or Chou support is not interchangeable with Shen because Shen directly damages the activating branch.
When the month command already carries Proper Officer, Seven Killing or a strong Hurting Officer structure, use that ordinary pattern first. The text records additional Geng-Shen and Ren-Shen variants for other stems, but these are source variants, not permission to call every punishment-and-combination sequence this pattern.
- Model filling, damage and obstruction as different failure states.
- Apply month-command and ordinary-pattern precedence.
OpenFate verifies visible participants but does not invent the absent Officer
OpenFate can calculate Gui day pillars, the Jia-Yin hour, hidden stems, Ten Gods, branch clashes and combinations, month command and visible Wu-Ji, Si, Shen or Geng blockers.
It does not create Si or Wu and does not output Punishment-Combination Gains Lu. A future detector needs a principal-route table, separately versioned variants, absent-target and blocker states, ordinary-pattern precedence and negative fixtures. Existing reports remain unchanged.
- Use only deterministic pillar evidence as chart data.
- Fail closed when the route or source variant is ambiguous.
The classical Lu label is not a modern status forecast
Lu and Officer are historical technical images. This rare label does not demonstrate promotion, examination success, authority, fame, income or social class.
Do not use it for financial, employment, legal, relationship, health or safety decisions. Those questions require current facts and qualified professional support.
- Exclude rank, wealth and timing promises.
- Keep cultural interpretation separate from professional advice.
