Overview

Punishment-Clash with Combination is the standard English label for 刑沖帶合. In the cited passage, the operative structure is a Heavenly Stem combination occurring together with an Earthly Branch punishment: examples include Bing-Zi with Xin-Mao and Geng-Shen with Yi-Si. The first transmitted example appears as 甲子見巳卯 in one transcription, although the stated “stem combines, branches punish” logic points to Jia-Zi with Ji-Mao; OpenFate therefore records it as a textual ambiguity rather than silently correcting the source. This label describes simultaneous relations, not a separate force and not proof of illness, sexuality, morality, marriage quality, ruin or death. Those deterministic and gendered claims in the old commentary are not reused. OpenFate calculates the actual stem and branch relations but has no standalone detector for this label.

Read the two real relations before using the old label

A valid structural description needs an actual Five Combination between two visible stems and an actual punishment relation between their visible branches. Bing and Xin combine while Zi and Mao punish; Geng and Yi combine while Shen and Si participate in punishment.

The term contains 沖 in its received heading, but the explanatory sentence defines punishment and combination. Do not expand it to every clash-plus-combination chart without separate source support.

  • Identify the exact stems, branches and relation type.
  • Do not treat the heading as a universal clash rule.

Keep textual ambiguity and historical value claims separate

One transcription prints the first pair as Jia-Zi and Si-Mao, which cannot supply the stem combination described in the same passage. Ji-Mao would satisfy Jia-Ji combination and Zi-Mao punishment, but that is an editorial inference and must remain marked as such.

The source attaches moral, sexual, health, marital and fatal predictions to the structure. Those claims are culturally historical, not validated causal rules, and are excluded from OpenFate interpretation.

  • Do not silently emend 巳 to 己.
  • Do not reproduce discriminatory or deterministic outcome claims.

OpenFate exposes the component relations instead of a verdict

OpenFate can calculate each visible Heavenly Stem combination and Earthly Branch punishment, including their positions and competing relations. Users can inspect those facts directly.

The system does not output Punishment-Clash with Combination as an independent grade or prediction. A future editorial badge would need an explicit relation matrix and source-version note, and must not alter existing reports.

  • Prefer transparent component relations.
  • Keep any future label descriptive and non-scoring.

Simultaneous relations do not diagnose people or events

No stem-branch combination can diagnose addiction, illness, character, fidelity, family conduct, violence, disaster or lifespan. A chart structure is not evidence of such outcomes.

Health, relationship, legal, financial and safety concerns require direct evidence and appropriate professional support.

  • Reject stigma and character judgments.
  • Never convert the label into medical or safety advice.
