What Is Six Ren Approaching Gen (六壬趨艮) in BaZi?
Learn the Ren-day and Jia-Yin-hour gate, absent Hai Lu, principal Ren-Yin and Ren-Chen days, repeated Yin, blockers and variant routes.
Overview
Six Ren Approaching Gen is the standard English name for 六壬趨艮. Its principal gate is a Ren Day Master with a Jia-Yin hour. The classical explanation treats Yin as combining out an absent Hai, where Ren has Lu, and especially names Ren-Yin and Ren-Chen as principal days. Additional Yin can strengthen a separate Food-God-to-Wealth reading because Jia and Bing reside in Yin. The source also preserves another route in which repeated Yin remotely invites Si Officer and Bing invites Xin Resource; that variant is not identical to the absent-Hai Lu route. Visible Hai fills the Lu target, while punishment, clash, overcoming, break, Wu binding, Shen clash, Geng damaging Jia, visible Wealth/Officer and Officer/Killings that weaken Ren are named boundaries. Begin with Ren and the complete Jia-Yin hour
The base rule is not merely “Ren sees Yin.” Jia-Yin must occupy the hour. In the dark-Lu explanation, Yin is used to connect toward an absent Hai, Ren’s Lu branch; Ren-Yin and Ren-Chen receive special emphasis in the source.
Repeated Yin also contains Jia Food God and Bing Wealth, so the text offers a direct visible Food-to-Wealth rationale alongside the remote Lu image. These are layers, not permission to generate Hai.

The Hai-Lu and remote Officer-Resource explanations are distinct
A second passage uses multiple Yin to invite Si Officer and Bing to invite Xin Resource. It brings its own Wu-combination, Shen-clash, filling and strength conditions and cannot silently replace the first dark-Lu model.
Visible Hai, punishment, clash, overcoming or break damages the principal route. Shen and Geng can damage Jia, direct Wealth/Officer can fill the indirect premise, and strong Officer/Killings can weaken Ren. Ordinary structure therefore remains decisive.
