Overview
Six Yin Greeting the Sun is the standard English name for 六陰朝陽. The principal rule in San Ming Tong Hui starts with one of the six Xin days and a Wu-Zi hour. Wu is read as combining the Gui hidden in Zi, while a separate classical chain uses Wu and Bing to invite the absent Bing Officer toward Xin. The text prefers a single Zi and names Wu clash, Chou binding, visible Bing and visible Si as key disruptions or filling conditions. It also classifies seasonal-earth months under Resource, Bing-Fire months under Wealth/Officer and Jia-Yi Wood months under Wealth, confirming that month-command structures take precedence. A later explanation narrows one rationale to Xin-Hai, Xin-Wei and Xin-You, so OpenFate keeps the base rule and variant note separate. Start with the complete Wu-Zi hour on a Xin day
The rule is not triggered by Zi alone. It requires Xin as Day Master and Wu-Zi as the Hour Pillar. The received explanation links Wu, Gui in Zi and the absent Bing Officer through a classical invitation model.
That model is interpretive. Bing and Si remain absent chart symbols, and a visible Bing or Si changes the premise. The principal passage also prefers one Zi rather than treating unlimited repetition as stronger.

Check Wu, Chou and the source variants before classification
Wu clashes Zi and Chou binds it, so both interfere with the stated route. Visible Bing or Si fills the target. The source then gives month-specific alternatives—Resource, Wealth/Officer or Wealth—showing that an established ordinary structure supersedes the special label.
A secondary explanation associates the “yin returns to yang” rationale especially with Xin-Hai, Xin-Wei and Xin-You. It does not cleanly match the broad six-Xin opening rule, so it is retained as a variant rather than used to rewrite the base gate.
