What Is Seasonal Strength (四時乘旺) in BaZi?
Learn the spring Jia–Yi and summer Bing–Ding examples, what seasonal agreement establishes, what the source omits and OpenFate’s product boundary.
Overview
Seasonal Strength is the workbook’s English name for 四時乘旺. The short source gives spring birth with Jia and Yi appearing at Day and Hour, and summer birth with Bing and Ding appearing there, “and the like.” Its usable core is agreement between seasonal qi and the two stems shown at the specified positions. The entry does not print the autumn and winter pairs, define whether Day and Hour must contain both named stems in either order, or provide a complete scoring rule. The ordinary five-phase seasonal cycle may explain a later school’s extension, but that extension must not be quoted as if every pair appeared in this passage. OpenFate does not currently detect Seasonal Strength.

The recorded examples pair seasonal qi with Day and Hour stems
For a spring birth, the passage names Jia and Yi; for a summer birth, it names Bing and Ding. A traceable reading must show the adopted season, the actual Day stem and the actual Hour stem.
The phrase “and the like” indicates analogy, but it does not itself print a complete four-season lookup table or settle whether the two stems may appear in either order.

A standard seasonal extension must remain labelled as an extension
Five-phase convention normally associates autumn with Metal and winter with Water. That convention can explain a school’s proposed Geng–Xin or Ren–Gui continuation, but those pairs are not written out in this entry.
Month boundaries, solar-term policy, stem order, duplicates and mixed stems must be declared before any reproducible classifier can be evaluated.
