Overview

Bowing to the Celestial Gate is the English name for 拱揖闕門. The source defines the “gate” as the branch opposite the Year branch, then uses two visible positions to arch the single branch between them: Jia-Zi receives Ji-Si and Xin-Wei to arch virtual Wu; Yi-Chou receives Geng-Wu and Ren-Shen to arch virtual Wei. Zi and Wu receive special emphasis as imperial gates. A true arch requires two positions flanking one virtual position and stems of the same class. The text also distinguishes arching a General, Officer, Seat, Noble or Seal and mentions seventy-two forms without supplying a complete table. OpenFate does not create the virtual branch or detect this formation.

Derive the gate from the Year branch, then test the two flanking positions

For Jia-Zi, Wu is opposite Zi. Ji-Si and Xin-Wei stand on either side of Wu, so the passage calls Wu the virtual gate. For Yi-Chou, Geng-Wu and Ren-Shen similarly arch Wei, the branch opposite Chou.

The branch between the two visible positions is conceptual evidence. It is not a fifth pillar and does not automatically acquire hidden stems, Ten Gods, Nayin, combinations or other chart effects.

  • Show the Year branch, opposite gate and both flanking positions.
  • Keep the arched branch virtual and separately labeled.

True arching is narrower than any two branches around a gap

The source says two positions must virtually enclose one position and their stems must be of the same class. It gives Zi and Wu extra weight as the central gate and imperial seat, while other opposite branches are treated more lightly.

It also lists arching a General, Officer, Seat, Noble or Seal and alludes to seventy-two forms. Because the complete forms and conflict rules are absent, these labels cannot be collapsed into one universal arch formula.

  • Require the stated branch geometry and stem-class condition.
  • Do not infer the unlisted seventy-two forms.

OpenFate does not materialize a virtual gate

The product displays calculated natal pillars and implemented relationships among branches that are actually present. A virtual arch remains explanatory source language unless a complete deterministic policy is separately implemented.

There is no Bowing to the Celestial Gate detector. OpenFate does not add the missing branch, assign it Ten Gods or hidden stems, or change a report, account or saved chart.

  • Separate visible pillars from explanatory virtual positions.
  • No virtual branch, derived Ten God or report mutation.

An imperial-gate metaphor does not establish status

The source praises “arching the void” over occupying the position directly and links useful gate structures with nobility. This is historical rank language, not modern evidence about a person.

Do not infer office, authority, promotion, political access, education, income, wealth, personality, relationships, health, safety or lifespan.

  • No rank, authority, promotion or wealth guarantee.
  • No personality, relationship, health, safety or lifespan prediction.
