How Does True Form Hold Its Position, or True Rest Guards Position (真體守位), Work in BaZi?
Learn the two terse Ding-person routes recorded for 真體守位, why 真休守位 is a legacy typo and what the source leaves unresolved.

True Form Holds Its Position is a cautious English rendering of 真體守位. The workbook previously carried 真休守位 and “True Rest Guards Position”; the received San Ming Tong Hui heading is 真體守位, so OpenFate preserves the old English label only as a route-compatible alias. The passage gives two short routes: a Ding person obtains Ren within Yin, Mao, Chen or Hai; or Bing and Xin each occupy flourishing positions while no other position contains Ding. It does not define what “obtains,” “within,” “flourishing position,” or the relevant chart positions mean, and it gives no universal stem table. OpenFate does not detect this formation.

Keep the two recorded routes separate and complete
The first route begins with a Ding person, then says Ren is obtained within Yin, Mao, Chen or Hai. The second route instead names Bing and Xin, requires each to be in a flourishing position, and adds that no other position contains Ding.
The wording does not say that the two routes combine, that all four branches are required, or that every Ding chart with Ren qualifies. Each route should be displayed as a source statement with its own conditions.

The short passage does not define its operational vocabulary
The source does not identify which pillar supplies Ren, whether Yin–Mao–Chen–Hai is an either–or list, how hidden stems are treated, or what exact life-stage or seasonal rule makes Bing and Xin “flourishing.”
It also provides no rotated examples for the other Day Stems, no conflict priority, and no rule for repeated or combined stems. Those missing policies prevent a reliable modern detector.
