Overview

Crouching Green Dragon is the standard English name for 青龍伏形. The classical rule limits it to five day pillars: Jia-Shen, Jia-Xu, Yi-Si, Yi-You and Yi-Chou. Jia or Yi Wood represents the eastern Green Dragon and is said to “crouch” in a branch carrying Metal; the source then requires support through the Month Command, a usable Officer position, no damaging Hurting Officer and a workable balance between Metal and Wood. A matching day pillar is only the first test. OpenFate calculates the pillar, hidden stems, Ten Gods, Month Command and strength, but does not declare this composite pattern.

The classical rule starts with five exact day pillars

The source names Jia-Shen, Jia-Xu, Yi-Si, Yi-You and Yi-Chou. A Jia or Yi day on any other branch is not included merely because Metal appears elsewhere in the chart.

The directional image is technical vocabulary for Wood seated on a branch that contains Wealth or Officer relations. It is not an animal sign, personality type or independent chart calculation.

  • Match the complete Day Pillar against the five-item allowlist.
  • Show the actual hidden stems and Ten God relations under the Day Stem.

Month support and Metal-Wood balance decide whether the route is usable

After the day-pillar match, the passage asks whether the Month Command gives support, whether the Officer reaches a usable position and whether Hurting Officer damages the route. Metal and Wood must remain capable of interacting rather than one side simply overwhelming the other.

The separate phrase “Green Dragon Hidden” attached to some Yi-Si readings should remain a labeled source variant. It does not authorize automatic claims about alcohol, health or lifespan.

  • Audit Month Command, strength, Officer and Hurting Officer after matching.
  • Keep the Yi-Si source variant separate from the core five-day rule.

OpenFate exposes every input without upgrading the day pillar into a verdict

The engine provides the natal pillars, hidden stems, Ten Gods, Month Command, strength and interactions needed to review this rule.

There is no Crouching Green Dragon detector. A matching day pillar remains a calculated fact, while the classical pattern remains an editorial interpretation that changes no score, report or saved chart.

  • Calculated chart data remains authoritative.
  • The page does not alter existing product behavior.

The Green Dragon image does not predict rank, drinking or health

Classical verses connect the pattern with distinction and attach lifestyle or health claims to an Yi-Si variant. Those statements are historical interpretation, not validated modern evidence.

Do not use this pattern to promise wealth, office or status, or to infer alcohol use, illness, lifespan or character. Consequential decisions require direct evidence and qualified advice.

  • No wealth, office or status guarantee.
  • No substance-use, medical, personality or lifespan inference.
