What Is Broken Official (破官) in BaZi?

Overview
Broken Official is the workbook English name for 破官, a classical remote-Office pattern rather than the ordinary idea that an existing Officer star is damaged. The passage starts from a chart without visible Wealth, Officer or Resource and uses a specified branch break to seek a hidden Officer in an absent counterpart. Its examples include Gui-Mao seeking Ji in Wu, Gui-You seeking Wu in Chen, and Jia-Wu seeking Xin in You. A separate combination must retain the invited target; visible Officer, an already filled target, a clear month-command pattern or an unmatched branch break invalidates the rare route. Because transmitted break mappings and examples need explicit tables, OpenFate does not detect Broken Official.

Broken Official names an indirect retrieval method, not automatic Officer damage
In this passage, “break” is used to draw an Officer from a counterpart that is not visibly present. It is therefore different from an ordinary discussion of an exposed Officer being attacked, mixed or weakened.
The text gives concrete routes rather than a universal formula: Gui-Mao toward Wu-Ji, Gui-You toward Chen-Wu, and Jia-Wu toward You-Xin. A detector cannot substitute any branch-break pair or any hidden Officer.
