How Is the Kui Gang Pattern (魁罡格) Judged?
Go beyond the basic Kui Gang day marker to review repetition, strength, month command, ordinary-pattern overrides and the different rules for its four days.

This page covers Kui Gang Pattern adjudication rather than repeating the shorter Kui Gang term entry. A candidate must first be one of four complete day pillars—Geng-Chen, Ren-Chen, Wu-Xu or Geng-Xu. The classical discussion then checks repetition, Day Master support, clashes and the month command. It explicitly says that when the month command establishes Wealth, Officer, Resource or Output, that ordinary structure should be used instead of forcing Kui Gang. The four days also have different Wealth, Officer and Resource cautions. OpenFate identifies the basic Kui Gang day marker but does not certify Kui Gang Pattern formation.

The day marker is only the entry condition
The four-day allowlist is exact. OpenFate can correctly flag one of those Day Pillars as Kui Gang, but that confirms only the candidate marker. The source gives additional weight to repeated appearances and strength, while also examining clashes and controls.
A chart with one listed day and no supporting structure should not receive the same conclusion as a chart with repeated, coherent evidence. Nor should Chen, Xu or Geng elsewhere be counted as a substitute day.

Month command and ordinary patterns can override Kui Gang
The source states that if the month command presents usable Wealth, Officer, Resource or Output, the chart should be judged through that ordinary structure. This is a direct guard against treating a rare name as more important than the chart’s actual seasonal organization.
The four candidates are not identical: the Geng routes, Wu-Xu and Ren-Chen receive different comments about Wealth, Officer, Resource and support. A reliable analysis keeps those branches separate instead of applying one blanket “avoid Wealth and Officer” rule.

The current product exposes evidence, not a Kui Gang Pattern score
OpenFate’s Shen Sha layer flags the four exact Day Pillars. The broader engine also exposes the month branch, strength, Ten Gods and stem-branch interactions needed for a manual review.
It does not evaluate repetition, day-specific exceptions or ordinary-pattern precedence as a Kui Gang Pattern detector. The Wiki therefore must not upgrade the existing marker into a hidden score or rewrite saved reports.

Kui Gang cannot predict violence, authority or misfortune
Premodern descriptions connect Kui Gang with severity, command, punishment, poverty or calamity. They are historical typologies, not evidence about a living person.
The pattern cannot establish aggression, criminality, leadership, occupation, health, lifespan, wealth or social rank. It must never be used to justify coercion or discrimination.
